Get ready to join us in our first ever online Intermediate Course for Head Movements, Tilted and Horizontal Axis Turns! These techniques are challenging on their own, and can be even more challenging when combined together.

We'll practice common ways that these upper body movements and turn techniques are connected together. Let’s dive in!

HOW DOES IT WORK?

This course took place over the course of 8 weeks. There will be 6 hour long classes and 2 shorter pre-recorded ones with follow-along and assignments. Classes are a mix of talking, experiencing with exercises, moments to follow along, and sharing with each other.

Classes are structured with a mix of breakdowns, moments to follow along, feedback and A LOT of guided practice and feedback.

As we enter the next level, it's very important to understand how to execute, connect and flow between techniques safely. In this course, we'll not only breakdown the details for each technique, but we'll also spend a lot of time on the ways you can do this safely when social dancing, how to feel good while doing them so then you can also feel happy with the aesthetics of your movement. We strongly believe that good looks come from good feelings when it comes to dancing.

Every week was structured with sequences that help you with good habits to safely explore and combine different techniques for Followers in the Intermediate level. The focus of this course is to experiment with different ways to move your body within those topics and learn how it works best for your way of expressing those shapes and feelings in your body.

DO I NEED A PARTNER? IS THIS FOR LEADERS OR FOLLOWERS?

This is a solo class intended to connect with followers or anyone interested in learning more about the dance, regardless of roles when dancing. The most comfortable and confident dancers are those who have learnt and experienced all sides of the dance and here at District Zouk, we highly recommend every dancer to learn them all!

The way this course is structured allows for those who don’t have a partner to benefit as much as those who have a partner, since we will spend most of the class on the solo execution of the techniques.

WHY SHOULD I JOIN?

When dancing, the more you know, the more doors you can open. Especially with social dancing which is 100% improvised by nature, the more tools you have, the more you can have fun and dance all night. There's no limit to the amount of knowledge you can gain.

When joining this course, you'll be part of a group of students who are eager to practice, ask questions and share their own experience.

This is also a way you can support our instructors - some of whom teach dance as their full-time occupation - and they can support you during this time.
